If you're planning to upgrade your driveway or create a low-maintenance patio, resinbound surfacing is one of the most stylish and practical options on the market.

At ShellCo Ltd, we’ve installed resinbound surfaces across Stevenage, Hitchin, Royston, and the wider Herts/Beds/Cambs area. Here's why so many homeowners are choosing resin — and what makes a great installation last.

🔍 What is Resinbound Surfacing?

Resinbound surfacing is a mix of natural aggregate (stone) and a specialist resin binder. It’s laid over a solid base (like tarmac or concrete) to form a smooth, porous, and durable surface.

You’ve probably seen it on:

  • Driveways

  • Garden paths

  • Patio areas

  • Commercial entrances

  • Schools and public walkways

✅ Benefits of Resinbound:

  • Permeable – Allows water to drain through, reducing puddles and improving safety

  • Weed-resistant – No joints or cracks for plants to grow through

  • Customisable – Choose from a wide range of colours, finishes, and edging styles

  • Low-maintenance – Just an occasional sweep and hose down

  • Smooth and flat – Ideal for pushchairs, wheelchairs, or bikes

🛠 Our Resinbound Installation Process:

At ShellCo, we do it right from the ground up. Here’s our process:

  1. Ground prep – We install a solid base (often open-grade tarmac or concrete) to industry spec.

  2. Edging – Steel or block edge restraints are set in place.

  3. Mix and apply – We blend stone and UV-stable resin on site and hand-trowel for a flawless finish.

  4. Cure time – After 4–6 hours, it sets hard and is ready for foot traffic by the next day.

⚠️ Don’t Settle for DIY or Low-Quality Installs

Some companies cut corners with thin layers, poor base prep, or non-UV-stable resins — which leads to early cracking, colour fading, or loose stones.

ShellCo only uses trusted resin suppliers and experienced teams — we never sub out to unknown crews. Our work lasts.

📍 Where Do We Work?

We install resinbound surfacing across:

  • Hertfordshire (Stevenage, Hitchin, Harpenden, Royston, Ware)

  • Bedfordshire (Biggleswade, Sandy, Bedford)

  • Cambridgeshire (Cambridge, Buntingford)

If you’re in or around these areas, we can give you a free quote and help you pick the right finish.
